Human trafficking and organ trafficking

There are many problems that arise from organ trafficking. As we have previously mentioned, there are problems regarding the safety and health of people who are having their organs taken out and sold to rich buyers. After the problems for the sellers, the buyers have some problems as well. There is no guarentee that the health of the organ is properly given.

In addition, there are now reports that people are falling victim to human trafficking. According to various press reports, not all people who have their kidneys taken out are giving their permission. They are being drugged while doctors operate on them. When they wake up, they find out that they no longer have a kidney.

Here is a great database on human trafficking statistics that can show you the various ways criminals make money off of people.

Organ Black Market

Here is a webpage that has a price listing for the organ black market.

The prices of the organs are sold by traffickers to rich buyers who are in need of the kidney. The traffickers purchase the kidney for poor people all over the world. As you can see from the price list, the average price that a poor kidney seller receives for his or her kidney is $5,000. But the average price that a buyer of a kidney must pay is $150,000. The big difference in price between the buyer and seller goes to the organ trafficker. This trafficker must then pay the doctors for performing the operation, and other additional costs.

Still, after paying of his expenses, the trafficker can still make a lot of money from being the middle man in the black market for organs.

Kidney trafficking

A gang of organ traffickers was found in Bangladesh in August 2011 by police. The criminals were buying organs from poor people and selling them to rich people. The BBC said that it is legal for people to give their kidneys to a family member, but you cannot sell it to another person for money.

Even though it is illegal, many people use organ trafficking to get kidneys for themselves or their family members. One reason why organ trafficking is so popular is because the time to get a kidney from a hospital takes so long. It is much quicker to buy one on the black market. That is why people who are rich and don't want to wait will rather use a kidney from the black market then wait on a list.

I hope that somehow this problems gets fixed.

Organ trafficking statistics

It is very hard to get organ trafficking statistics because it is a crime and people try to hide it. But people have been able to guess as to how much kidneys are sold on the black market.

  • Up to 15,000 kidneys are bought and sold illegally each year.
  • The average price is $5,000.
The World Health Organization says that China has the most illegal black market organ transplants in the world. After China, Pakistan has the second most, followed by Egypt, Colombia and the Philippines.

Organ trafficking also falls under human trafficking, as people are forced to sell their organs. Traffickers sometimes take prisoners and make them give up their organs.

Organ Trafficking on the black market

Organ trafficking is an illegal activity that takes place on the black market. People buy and sell their organs to people in need.

One of the popular organs sold on the black market are kidneys. People sell their kidney for thousands of dollars. Many people who sell their kidney are poor and need the money to survive.

Many of the people who buy the organs are in need of a healthy kidney to live. They are desperate for a kidney so they buy one on the black market. The price they pay for this illegal operation is a lot more then the buyer receives.  The people who need the organ usually pay over $20,000 for the operation.

The difference between the buyer and the seller in money goes to the doctors performing the transplant and the organ traffickers.
